You Know Your Family’s Normal When…

You come home to find your dad watching “Ultimate Weapon” on the military channel.

Your 11-year-old sister can school you good at Halo 3.

On Friday nights, the usual noise of Modern Warfare 2 can be heard along with your little brother yelling “I HATE THIS GAME!!” multiple times over and you are thinking…”well, then WHY are you playing it?!”

You hear Glenn Beck’s voice a lot, whether he is on the TV or being quoted by your mom.

Anytime you do something to annoy your brother he tells you to go get married. When you do something weird he asks why you wonder you don’t have a boyfriend. What a sweetie, right?

You get to be an unpaid taxi driver for all your little siblings in a sexy bright red minivan.

Sometimes, your dad walks around wearing 3D glasses with the lens punched out saying he wants to always see life in 3D.

The BBC and the MLB are just a few of their favorite acronyms.

Nobody watches the Superbowl.

They watch the World Series.

The only music they can all agree to listen to together without arguing is Celtic Thunder.

They listen to Celtic Thunder a lot.

Actually, you know your family’s the WRIGHT family when they do these things. Whoever said anything about this stuff being NORMAL???

Oh hi. Yes, hey look, I am actually blogging. I do not have much to say. Just wrapping up another semester here in P-town so I thought I would document it. This semester has been very laid back. Grades seem to be fine. Looks like I will receive an assortment of A-’s and A’s. Possibly a B+ in statistics. I decided I really, really, want to get into nursing school for fall but that I’m not going let the stress of whether or not I get in ruin my life. I was before and it was kind of depressing because I always was so stressed out and negative. I don’t think my body could handle it and I felt really sad and angry all the time. But now I feel more happy because I know that no matter what happens in my life everything is going to be all right. Application is due May 28th…I’m almost there! I decided today that life is hard, but short so we should have fun while it lasts, and enjoy wherever it takes us…up or down.

Sometimes…my life has consistency.

So it’s been a while but GUESS WHAT for once it’s because nothing has changed. I am still going to BYU while secretly a Ute fan, still getting decent grades, etc, etc, etc, (see previous posts to know what my life is still like). And get this, I am STILL planning on going into nursing. It must be the right thing to do because it’s been six months and counting and I still am preparing to go to nursing school…pretty sure that is longest time I’ve ever stuck to a major so it must be right. and so…sometimes, I guess you could say my life has consistency. And I like it.

Um forgot to mention I have a really cute red haired niece. And I take care of her in the HFAC almost every day. She’s my fave. People walking by think she’s mine because of the hair. And they say she’s cute. And I am like “chyahhhh…I WISH she was mine.” Anyways. Love her. I helped her get borned. Elle est m’enfant favourite…as of yet. It’s not like I have my own to compare to or anything…J’aime être une tante!

BACK TO THE BLUE: BYU Sophomore Year Winter Semester 2010

Officially a sophomore! Finally, haha. Grades last semester were good, if I get a 4.o this semester I will have a 3.7 and will hopefully get into the nursing program. I’m applying this semester…wish me luck!

So it is finals week. I have not blogged all semester. Or written in my journal, as a matter of fact so I feel like I should say something about my life thus far even though there is a reason behind the no blogging…as in like I really have nothing to say. school is school.

I am an aunt! Brooklyn Adelaide Smith…cutest little girl on the planet! Caitlyn let me be in the delivery room when Brooklyn was born, and I helped her push and was there to hear her cry for the first time. It was an amazing experience, I found my calling in life. I’m going to be a nurse that takes care of babies. I love babies. I am not normally a warm and fuzzy person…but when it comes to babies it makes my heart melt now. I used to not be like that, I can’t believe it now, but it is what I want to do. Now I just have to get into the nursing program here at BYU…let’s see how that goes…but I need to go study now because oh look, it’s like…it’s finals week. Peace.

Just Checking In…

Haven’t written anything in awhile, just checking in. School is going good. I’m getting A’s in physiology actually! And I got an 85% on my child development test. I don’t want to be too cocky, but I think I may have a shot at a 4.0 this semester. And that equals more of a possibility I get into nursing school. I have a friend who is in the program already and the more I talk to her the more I get so excited to start. I love that I have a purpose it makes me happy even when things don’t go the way I want to. Now I know those bad things are happening to make me not realize my full potential, not because I’m not worth anything. Even though I’m tired of a lot of things not going the way I want them to, I know its going to all work out…because I have a purpose in life!
Not much else of interest has happened since last I wrote though, otherwise I probably would have wrote sooner. Oh. It was my birthday. I have only one year left as a teenager, better live it up as best I can!
I get to come home to see Celtic Thunder, best birthday present ever. Mostly because I get to go home, not necessarily because I get to see Celtic Thunder. Which is still most DEFINITELY a plus. I am so excited. So so excited. And I get to miss two days of school.

So yeah, still living the dream here in p-town. Everything is still the same, not much has changed. I wake up, I go to school, I do my homework, I eat some food, I watch TV, I hang out with people, I go to bed.
